Peach cobbler

Ingredients

  • 4 peaches
  • 1 cup sugar (1/2 + 1/2)
  • 3/4 tsp cinnamon (1/2 + 1/4)
  • 1/8 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 8 tbsp (113 g) butter
  • 1 1/2 cups (215 g) flour
  • 2 1/4 tsp (8 g) baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups milk

Recipe

  1. Oven: 350 °F = 175 °C.
  2. Slice peaches.
  3. Mix peaches, 1 cup sugar, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, nutmeg, water. Simmer for 10 min.
  4. Place butter in dish. Melt in the oven.
  5. Combine flour, baking powder, salt and 1 cup sugar. Stir in milk.
  6. Pour batter over butter. Lay fruits on top, drizzle with syrup. Sprinkle with 1/4 tsp cinnamon.
  7. Bake for 40 min.

modifications: this is one of the rare recipes that does bare to half the sugar without suffering in the texture or the taste. So I halved it. If the peaches are ripe and sweet, the sugar in the peaches can probably be omitted. This dessert is amazingly delicious.
