Experience
- made on 12/01/2022, 1/2 portion, and it was definitely too little for dinner for 2. The whole portion would have probably been enough. This is a flavor bomb; so so so good.
Ingredients
- 1 whole brie cheese (225 g)
- some white wine
- 8 sprigs of thyme
- 2 garlic cloves
- 2 apples
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp honey
- ⅓ cup pecans
- more apples and/or bread
Recipe
- Oven: 180°C = 350°F.
- Put brie on baking paper in a small dish. I sliced and lifted off the top, poured some white wine, placed slices from garlic cloves and thyme sprigs, closed the top.
- Bake for 15 minutes, 30 minutes works well.
- Make apple slices (peel and core first). Mix apple slices, brown sugar, cinnamon and lemon juice, let sit for 5 minutes to release juices.
- Heat 2 tbsp butter and a splash of neutral oil, medium high heat.
- Layer apple slices in the pan, without juices. Roast on both sides until well browned.
- Off the heat, add the honey and stir (it caramelizes there). Add all juices from the apple mixing bowl.
- Take brie out of oven, lift the top, transfer to a flat serving dish, top with caramelized apples, sprinkle some chopped pecans.
- Eat with bread or apple slices.
